Nowadays, television is very important part of everyone`s lives. We spend hours and hours watching different shows form television but most of the time, we do not think about is this educating or we just devolve on that, but if you choose right channels, television is a useful source of information and education.
Firstly, television is full of informative shows and if you want, you can find very educational shows and films. For example, every Tuesday ETV2 shows AegRuum, which gives us information about everything you can think of. Furthermore, even entertaining channels show informative and educational shows and also most of Estonian channels show what is happening in Estonia and in the world.
Secondly, there is a lot news showed in television, which gives us glue what is going are and what are worldwide problems. In ETV you can see news or shows that give us a lot information (like Terevisoon) five times a day. It gives everybody a opportunity to find time to gen up with problems around the world.
Besides, there are many shows which does not give us any information at all and are just for entertainment. As a result of that, people are started to devolve on television and do not pay attention on what is important and why television was made at first place. There are many informative shows too, but people are so comfort these days and do not watch informative shows because they are too lazy to find entertaining activities besides watching television and it is a big income for companies who make entertaining shows and movies.
In conclusion, people have taken a side that informative shows are boring and it is much funnier to watch entertaining shows, but I think, it is not why you should turn on your TV. It shows a lot about you, if you know what is going on in the world and you have your own opinion about things. Nowadays, it costs more that knowing who is Romeos next mistress.

The percentage of people who own a television is very high, atleast in developed countries and it is a big part of our lives. It is not unheard of that a person comes home after work or school and turns on the television and watches it until going to sleep. Since there are a lot of commercials, movies, the news and talk-shows, which can interpet a subject like it wants, it definitely affects the way we think. Even if someone watches television only for an hour or two per day, it has an effect on a person. But is the amount of valid information enough for television to be labeled as a source of information rather than a source of entertainment?
Firstly, the biggest reason why television should be thought of as a source of entertainment is that when watching TV-shows and films, it is not likely to acquire a lot of useful information. There may be some real life facts from the time when the movie was made, but surely only watching films will not keep you up to date with what is going on in the world. As for the talk-shows, usually these kind of shows do not cover so called ''serious'' news and talk about gossip, cultural subjects or an interesting persona. Althought it might be good if adequate people would talk about what is going on around the world, it probably would not get as many viewers as gossip about celebrities. And since television is all about ratings then a serious talk-show just would not survive.
Secondly, when people come home after a hard day at work or anywhere else they want to relax. If all that was showed on television were news then they would have to keep thinking and worrying. For example when a stockbroker comes home, turns on the TV and sees that the stockrates, which he was working with had gone down he would not be able to sleep all night. That is why it is much easier to just switch off the real world and watch television. Many people do not even turn on the TV to watch news anymore, because internet has taken over and you can get information online much faster, whenever you want and in bigger amounts. So television's main purpose is to entertain.
On the other hand it can be said that television is a source of information, but only if left out that not for useful or thought-provoking information. A quarter of an hour on TV is filled with commercials about different things that people actually do not need, but they will make you want it, because they show these advertisments so often. Althought it is still information as it is a new thing and let's you know what people have come up with, it does not actually help you in life and probably makes your mind numb, while you watch it.
In conclusion I think that television is a source of entertainment rather than a source of information. There are other ways to get sophisticated knowledge and the news than the television. The internet and thematic magazines, for example. And the amount of news on TV definitely succumbs to the amount of mindless information, which is fed to people and that is why television is far from being a source of information.

Lots of people in the world watch TV every day. But why is there a need to sit hours on a couch and watch just a box where pictures are moving with voices. Is this activity worth doing or is it just another way how to spend an endless time? I think that today's television is more a source of entertainment than a source of information.
Firstly, to stand for my opinion, there are a lot more entertaining channels on TV than channels which give out information. TV packets such as Starman, Elisa offer an extremely wide choice of different channels, which are mostly directed to avoid boredom. Therefore for those who still have only four Estonian channels, such as TV3, ETV, ETV2 and Kanal 2, their programmes also contains mostly of „easy watching" TV-shows or series, like Dinner for five, Dr.House and Two and a Half Men, in addition to give us some laugh. While watching them there is no need to pay attention to the facts that information offers.
Secondly, people usually watch television because they do not have nothing else important to do. On Saturday mornings after waking up, the typical morning routine consists of washing a face, brushing teeth, making coffee and some sandwiches. While eating also watching what is on television in order to make breakfast more exciting. In the evenings when people come home from work and all the household chores are done, they would like to relax inasmuch as be entertained. Futhermore, watching good movies, funny TV-shows or excellent series is an enjoyable way to spend a nice, peaceful evening at home. Television is a part of peoples daily routine.
On the other hand television gives us also loads of information, through news or advertises broadcasted between programms. Some people watch only news from television, to keep up with what is happening in the world. Younger generation reads news from the Internet because there is no need to wait until seven o'clock if it is possible to read them earlier. On the Internet, there are multiple sources to find an information which is needed. Although, people have to find an information theirselves.
All in all, I am sure that nowadays people have find different ways how to get information what they need more quickly and rationally, so that they would use TV only for an entertainment.

Few decades ago, television was the only source of information, where you could get the information and see the picture in the same time. That is why everybody were following the news from the televison. Nowadays, televisor just stands in the corner of the room to just watch the movies and soap operas, everybody uses the internet to find out the news, which they are interested in.
Firstly, you can search all the information from Internet. If you visit some newspaper's homepage, you can just read the titles and you can open only those news, which interest you. On the Internet, you can also say, what you think about some article, although some people are using the anonymity to post cruel comments. Watching the news, you can not just skip the stories. You have to watch them all. For example. Estonian news Reporter is a show, where they talk half an hour about celebrities and cute animals, but they do not talk so much about the serious news. If you want to know, what is happening in the world, you have to follow some serious news agency.
Moreover, from the Internet, you can also hear the different opinions. The news services can be very subjective and when you hear only one opinion, you may be wrong or brainwashed. Therefore, I use the Internet to get my news and use television to watch movies. It is more comfortable to watch movies from the televisor instead of the computer monitor. Our generation is used to watch movies from TV, because we all watched cartoons, when we were little.
On the other hand, there are still people, who tend to get their information from television instead of the Internet. Many old people are not used to surf on the internet, that is why they are reading the newspapers, listening to the radio or watching the televisor. They prefer the television because you can not see the picture from the radio and the articles in the newspaper may be little bit boring to read. When the news are about some catastrophe, they want to see debris of the buildings. Reading the interview is never so excting than watching it, because you can see the reactions and people's expression.
To sum up, I think that in the future, people get all their news from the Internet. Already now there are lot of entertaining shows, which people like to watch, for example reality shows. But I think there always are some people, who prefer watching the news from the television, because yellow news services are mixing entertainment and information, that is why Reporter is so popular in Estonia.

Television, as we know today, is used in many different ways. The first thing that almost everyone does when he arrvies home is turn on the TV. Is it because he wants to get entertained or because he wants to hear the news? Probably he wants to get the news.
First of all, the entertainable side has moved to computers where anyone can watch exactly the videos they want, play different games and listen to music. Everything is in one place. People can read the news on the Internet as well so getting the news about what is going on is not impossible when one does not have a TV. The television is more comfortable in watching the news, however, because they are brought to people so that they do not need to do anything more than to turn it on.
What is more, at least one third of what can be seen on TV is commercials. They take a lot of time and this is one of the reasons why people today do not like to watch television. They are extremely annoying especially during the movies. Some scenes in the movie are usually cut out because in other way it would last too long with the commercials. Movies are the only entertaining things in television. At least in Estonia.
On the other hand, these commercials, that you can not avoid, are starting to appear on the internet as well. Commercials are very good money makers for the famous sites and that is why they probably can not resist it.
Television is very good for watching the news. They are brought to viewers in a good summary and that is why it is comfortable. But on the entertaining side television has a lot to work on to be competitive with the computers today. Television does not fill the need of every person in entertainment but the news are everywhere pretty much the same and that is why television has more potetial in giving people information.

All Adverts are Dishonest. They do not Give Us a True Picture of a Product.
We have all seen advertisements of products that magically grow your hair back or eau de toilette, which suddenly makes every woman in the world crave for you. I would like to ask, if any of those advertisements are actually true?
I think that none of today's adverts actually give you the full truth. It would be very bad advertising tactics, when you are trying to sell your product and then say that it has a few flaws and you would not personally use it. That would not tempt people to buy those products and therefore advertising companies all over the world try to paint their products in bright colors.
The second reason why people try to touch up their products is, that the competition in some areas, where products have similar effects is really tough, for instance washing-powders and other cleaning products. It would be hard to compete with others without making your goods sound better than they really are.
In today's society some people think that it is perfectly okay to lie to costumers just to elevate profits, but I strongly disagree and as far as I know I am not the only one who disagrees. False advertising is illegal in Estonia and therefore advertising companies are very careful not to say something that could be proved otherwise, for example instead of saying "We are the best out there", it is said in advertisements that they are one of the best, because it would be easy to prove that they are not the best, however, you can't prove that they are not "one of the best", because of the possible different explanations of the term.
I am not saying I enjoy commercials or advertisements, but if I did, I would say that I enjoy simple commercials, which sometimes have very little to do with the product itself. I hate commercials that repeat the products name annoyingly.
In conclusion I would like to say that the more accurate the advertisements are the better they seem to me and using vague phrases does not appeal to me at all. This might be off-topic, but I like to call commercials, which look fake and flawed "polish commercials".

Almost everyone has a television in their homes. Some people watch it a lot, while others use it mostly for watching the news and sometimes movies. Nowadays television is not so important, because we can watch these things and a lot more from computers. Unfortunately Estonian channels do not show much documentaries, whereas they have more different television series. For me television seems a source of entertainment.
Firstly how many people watch the television to get a information? Few, because it is easier to use a computer. Moreover we depend on the television, because if you want to watch the news, you have to wait until certain time. Fortunately we have opportunity to use a computer and we can get quickly for example the weather forecast to make planes.
Secondly what information the television give us? Sometimes you watch the news from 2 different channels and some information that they tell us is different from each other, so can we trust these sources? Estonian channel rarely shows documentaries or television shows, from where we can learn something. Furthermore they make new television series, although we have already these too much. Despite that people tend to watch a lot this kind of television shows. On the one hand it is wasting a time, as you can use this free time for readying a book, doing sport or something useful. On the other hand people are tired after long work day and they would like to relax a little bit, so it is comprehensible.
Nevertheless the television has a lot of series and advertisement, there are some especial channels like discovery ones, which are very interesting. During one show they do not show advertisement and they have good documentaries. Furthermore a variety is big, so everyone can find something, what they like. Whatever channel it is, at least the news have true information, what we can trust.
All estonians do not have much channel, someone has only Estonians channels, while others have british, russian and german ones too. It depends a lot, what kind of channel you watch, but in Estonia you can see from television more entertainment that get information.

Television was invented in the 19th century. It has changed very much through the ages. Nowadays television contains of many ridiculous TV-channels, for example MTV. Only very few channels are providing information, but the question is, what is television idea to entertain or to share information?
First of all, Estonian newscasts are not any more TV-programs, where we can get information about what have in Estonia happened or in some foreign country. It is not only television problem. It also includes radio and newspapers. They talk too much about celebrities and other pointless stories. For example, Reporter, the newscast of Kanal 2, has shown much news about the Karadashian family and I still do not know who they are. I do not understand why people are interested in these kinds of news. Maybe they watch it, because they are bored and have nothing else to do. Unfortunately, it does not give us anything good or valuable, just some knowledge, which we probably will forget after 2 minutes.
The second thing that disturbs me is advertisements. It is so annoying, when commercial stops movie in the most interesting scene and then you have to wait 10-25 minutes to see more, but it is not the worst. People get used to it.
The other reason is more serious. We know that young people like to watch TV. While they are watching, they might learn new things. The idea of commercial is to introduce new developments and get more customers. Advertisements are not only about cleaning products and clothes. They advertise alcohol and tobacco, which is one reason, why people start to smoke and drink at an early age. TV influences people, especially teenagers, so I approve the idea to proscribe that kind of commercials.
Although, there are moments, when we want to have fun and see something humorous. For example, you had difficult day behind, came home and turned on the TV. I doubt that someone prefer to watch some documentary film. So, in this case it is good to have these kinds of TV-shows like "Desperate Housewives", "Doctor House", "Bones", "X-Factor" etc.
In the other hand, there are also very good, interesting and correct newscasts, even if these are in minority. In Estonia is only ETV, which deserves to view. I think that news and overall television channels should be such that they educate and give information we need. In summer 2011 we had new law of traffic. I am person, who does not read very many newspapers and does not listen radio, but thanks to the television I know much about it. Also, I like to watch Discovery Channels and Investigation, because it often helps me with my chemistry, geography, biology and English homework.
In conclusion I think that today's television is more about entertainment. Unfortunately, there are too few TV-channels, which give information and educate. In Estonia, there is only ETV that deserves to watch. In my opinion, perfect television contains of several different TV-shows. Also I think that there has to balance between serious documentary and funny series, because if something is going to dominate, like nowadays dominates pointless soup operas, then it is not good and fetched. In the other hand, some TV-channels are useful for doing homework and I wish they would be more.

I think that today's television is more a source of entertainment than a source of information, because people are more interested in things what gives them pleasure but care less about things what would give them important information. People's attitude towards life has changed in recent decades and that's why television is changed too. At the beginning televisions where used for telling people about the news, weather and politics but now it is more like a show business.
First of all I think that people are more interested in things what gives them more pleasure than just knowing the information. Usually in the news the information is always bad and makes people worry all the time. Too much negative information. Also even if there is something positive then people do not even care about it. For example if there would be a news about Juhan Parts being deceived by a bank then people would read it much more than a news about Kaia Kanep winning Wimbledon. People have changed because they are sick of listening to the negative things and now they look negative news from the different angle and are happy over it as long as it does not affect themselves.
Secondly television is now more used for commercials and TV shows than forwarding the news what is happening around us. I remember when ,, Seitmesed Uudised,, showed actual news rather than some reporter is making an entertaining interviews for viewers. Also same thing is with MTV channel, 7 years ago it showed only music but now only reality shows where 16 years old stupid teenage girls are pregnant and do not know what to do with their life anymore. Also in Estonia the most watched news are ,,Reporter,, because it is 1h long and 98% of it is entertainment not actual news what people need to know.
All in all there are also some TV shows and news what give people information instead of entertainment and people who want to know information can listen to them. For example ETV channel news are for information and on that channel is also ,, Riigikogu infotund,, where ministers are being questioned on live cast. So television is still a little bit a source of information but not so much as it used to be in old days.
Finally I would say that people have changed and take serious information more like a joke because hearing all the negative news all the time is just frustrating and people try to make good out of it. All you hear in news at the moment is Greece going to hell and taking almost whole Europe with it. What I am trying to say is that even if television would be more source of information then not many people would watch it. So for me television is more a source of entertainment than a source of information.

Hundreds of years ago the spread of information was very low. The world started to develop, when information got more available for people. We can not imagine our lives without television, which was a main source of information more than ten years ago, but for now, television has became more a source of entertainment.
The first reason, why television is a source of entertainment, is that it offers a big variety of movies and television shows. The majority of television programs contains of them. Television has became the main thing for getting rid of boredom, because it offers something entertaining all day. When people come home after a day working in an office, they just want to relax. They turn on the television, because it gives them companion. People tend to do other things while the television is on, for example studying. Unfortunately it is not a good thing, because it is hard to concentrate while doing two thing at the same time.
Secondly, there are many alternatives to get the news. The time in television programs, which is for the news, is an hour or even less in the evenings. They are only once day and when you miss the news, you can not watch them later. It is easier to read the news on the Internet, because it is way more faster, furthermore, the news are published throughout a day. You can choose between different news, depending on what you are interested in. Moreover, people get their main information from the newspapers. Apart from the Internet and the newspapers, there are some certain television channels only for the news, but they demand an extra charge.
On the other hand, there are people, who watch television only for the news or they even do not own one. The older generation still uses television for a source of information, because the evening news programs summarise the events and accidents of the day very well. Furthermore, the information which comes from the television is more trustable than the news in the Internet, which are usually written very fast, casually and superficially.
In concluson, I would say that today's television is more for entertainment, than a source of information. Television programs contain mostly of movies, television series and reality shows, only an hour a day or even less is for the news. Also people watch television to get rid of boredom, because it offers something entertaining all the time. We have many alternatives to get the news, for example the Internet and the newspapers.

Nowadays television provides us every kind of screenplays. For an example there are news channels, sport channels, music channels, channels for movies only and so on. Basically we can watch whatever we want, anytime we want. But I would say that nowadays television is rather a souce of entertainment than a source of information
Firstly, in my opinion nowadays television is a source of entertainment, beacuse there is much more movie, music and other amusing channels than the ones that provides us information. Most of the people watch televisor only for the entertainment, beacause if they want to get informed about what is going on in the world, they can read news on the Internet. Furthermore, Internet bonus comparing to television is that, you can choose which article you are about to read. Television is good when there is no Internet connection like in the countyside. Then you know exactly when news are on and you can get an overview of the most important information just in 30 minutes.
Secondly, I think that 10-20 years ago evertything was conversely- Internet and computers were for entertainment and television was for information, but now everything is changed. Information is spreading out so much faster on internet than in television. In addition, we can even watch television via Internet for an example Estonian Public Broadcasting is using that opportunity, unfortunately, it is the only channel in Estonia which is providing such feature. For an example I do not watch televisor so frequently, because I can get all the information and entertainment from online with my laptop.
On top of that, there are some expostulations, for an example television is mostly a source of information for those who could not afford computer and they get most of their Information from televisor, besides, they can use television for entertainment. Moreover, I think that television could be only a information source for them who watch television only for the news. It depends on the person, everybody has different television watching habits, for an example I watch televisor in very rare occasions, but my parents watch television basically all the time, same with the radio.
In Conclusion, I think that nowadays television is mainly a source of entertainment, beacause technical gadgets are developing so fast that we can get all our information from web. Gadgets are developed so far, that we can read news via mobile phone and it does not cost much. I think that informational television will die out, beacause people get their information much faster via Internet. In the old days, having a television was not usual. If someone had it then that person was probably rich, because it was considered a luxury. In comparison to that, nowadays there is one in most of the households. There are so many different programs on television that everyone can find something to watch. When there were times television was more for getting information, then today it is for entertaining people.
Firstly, it is good to watch television after a long and tiring day at work or at school. There are days when a person can feel very stressed and worried about everything that is happening. On these periods of time it is very good to sit on the couch and start watching television. Sometimes people do not want to think about anything at all and they have a chance to choose a movie or cartoon, maybe fashion show, depends on what they like. Television has a good property to take a person´s mind off everything that is bothering him or her.
In addition to that, when there is nothing else to do, people can still watch television. I think people can spend hours and hours behind the television. Sometimes it is because a person is watching a movie or a marathon of his favourite series. Also there are such people who can watch almost every channel and a random show can entertain them. And if someone is not that kind of person, then there are so many different channels to choose from.
On the other hand, television is still a source of information. There are different kind of channels which are only about the news. But information is not only news. When watching the list of different channels, there is history channel, also discovery channels. In addition to these, there are shows which are introducing life in other countries. For people who can not afford going to India or to South Africa they are giving information about these places.
In conclusion, I think that there are people out there whose only entertainment is television. I do not think it is a bad thing having television as a source of entertainment. There are shows which are made to just entertain people but there are also programs which even teach people. Sometimes a person can get the information and even be entertained at the same time.

Television has developed almost for a hundred years now. When it was invented, it was the fastest way to get news, but with the invention of the Internet it has lost its dominance in this field. The news are coming faster and faster through the Internet and so television has needed to change.
Firstly, television is a source of entertainment because people usually watch the television when they come home after a hard day in office. So they do not want to hear anything serious anymore and even the news should be presented with some fun. The easiest way to get news is the Internet and if people can choose, they will select the easier option. Also the news broadcast in television is put together by some editors and it may not conform with the viewers choices.
Secondly, television is a source of entertainment because many people prefer watching the televison to going out with friends. It is an easy way to amuse yourself without leaving even your couch. It is a great way of relaxation and so people do not want to hear any bad news or dull news broadcasters. Even if they watch the news broadcast, they usually notice only the entertaining side or some mistakes that have been done by the editors.
However, there are still some older people for whom the television is the main source of the information. Usually they do not go to work anymore and so they are not very tired at the end of the day. They follow the news with total seriousness and even try to think how to make things better. The other aspect why they use the television as a source of information is the lack of skill with computer.
Finally, I think that television has mainly lost its informative importance but it still has some importance as a source of the news for older people. After a hard day in office nobody wants to hear how many terrorists have committed suicide. So I think that the Internet is a lot easier way to get news because it can be used almost everywhere and almost at every time.

Even toughed some people may say that television is a source of information, I would say that maybe it was some time ago, but now its main purpose is to entertain us.
To begin with, when you turn on your TV, you will probably have a bigger chance to see some kind of show, series, movie etc rather than a news or information program. That of course when assuming you open your TV at random time, not only when there are news coming from your box. Try to do next: Check a schedule, pick a channel and see how many programs are source of entertainment and how many tells you something smart or gives you a information. You could argue and say that you open Discovery channel and there are almost all shows for information. Surely on that channel it is in that way, but now I would ask you how much Discovery style based channels there are and what is the amount of entertainment channels in your TV. You probably know the answer would be that fun overwhelms information in TV nowadays.
Also the reason why we have large amount entertainment rather than knowledge on our TV may also be caused by the fact that we have so many other ways to get information. We have internet, radio, newspapers, mobile phones, email, facebook etc. These things have lowered the need to shows and tell about news on TV, there just is not so great need for it.
However, that we have so many other way to get information, we still have news and stuff on TV. Why? Well, because some people like it. It is good to sit on your chair or on couch and just do nothing and watch box. It is easier also, when you don't have to click, choose and select all the time what you want to read or see. Of course that applies when you do not have specific need for some kind of news and you just want to see what is going on world. Similarly if you, for example you are too lazy to read a book, or you are not a reader type of person, it is easier to watch documentaries from TV.
All in all we watch TV for entertainment, may it be fun based or educational. The idea of non-interactive screen is still very popular and I do not think it will go away for many decades.

Newer television sets even offer a possibility to surf on the Internet, but this is not the main reason why people reach for the remote. They watch television to see something entertaining. Why is that so?
Firstly, most of people watch television when they are bored. Television distracts our attention and time flies during watching some film. For example, it is a rainy day. You have refreshed your facebook, twitter or any other page several times, but still nothing new appears. You have even cleaned your room and tried to do everything else to not feel bored, but nothing seems to help. But then you open the television and you can watch it for hours. Also, if someone is sick and could not even come out of the bed, movies or series are good way to spend time. In this case, the person looks for something easy to watch, a kind of show, where you do not have to think all the time.
The second reason, why people prefer television as a source of entertainment, is that they just want to relax. When a person comes home after work or school, he wants to forget his problems. Today there are so many different channels and some even focus on specific topics. For example: sports, nature, history, travelling, music and so on. All you have to do is to choose the one you like the most and enjoy the program. News on the other hand are mostly negative and they can cause more stress.
Nevertheless, some people do not care about entertainment shows or they just do not have time to watch television. They only watch news once in a day. If person can not find anything interesting from entertainment show, why should he watch it. Or if someone comes home really late, he does not have time to watch some series. He just watches the news and goes to bed.
In conclusion, television is mostly a source of entertainment. People watch movies and series when they are bored or when they want to relax. Still, some people do not care about entertainment shows and they only watch news.

Is Today's Television A Source Of Entertainment Or A Source Of Information?
Today's people are watching television very much, it is the main way how to entertain themselves and also to get information too. Firstly this may be because that today's televisors are more developed and they have so many functions, for example radio and even the Internet. Secondly for older people television is more for getting information, but younger and younger people read the news on the Internet. Therefore the society more and more prefers to watch the entertainment on television. Why is that so?
I think that today's television is a source of entertainment. Many people use a computer for doing their job. Therefore they sit behind the computer and it is easy way to read the news constantly, which they do in their lunch break. In the evenings people are tired and they want to relax and forget everyday problems. This is the reason why people watch etertainment on television. Televisor offers many opportunities how to get easily entertained. For example home cinema, there is no need to go somewhere far to get excellent adventure. In addition it is cheap and good chance to spend time with hole family.
Reading the news on the Internet is more convenient than watching on television. This is because people can choose topics, which are more interesting and closer for them. Also if you want to watch entertainment on television, can choose which movie or show you want to watch. It is caused of that the range is large – some people even have more than 50 channels.
Nevertheless, people watch television for getting information. Older generation do that. They are used to get information on television and they are going to do that in the future too. Our parents and grandparents in their childhood have lived without a computer, so they do not want to try something new, even if it is easier and more suitable. They will continue their tradition and are happy for that.
In conclusion, today's television is a source of entertainment. This is because people prefer to watch movies and shows on television, but the news are better to read on the Internet. All that because it is convenient, which is important. Generally today's society has moved much more comfortable.Kairi Perk

Is Today's Television a Source of Entertainment or a Source of Information?
Today in almost every home you can find a television, in most homes there are even more than one television. In the beginning television was used for the same purposes as the radio and as newspapers, but in the last 70 years the media has changed completely. There are advertisements in all newspapers, on every radio channel and on all television channels. In addition to advertisements the programs on television have changed a lot also. Television has become a source of entertainment.
Firstly, there are more entertainment channels and shows on television than news because people do not see television as a source of information anymore. When they come home after a long day at work or at school, they look for something that would take off their minds from everyday problems. People need something that makes them laugh and relieves their stress.
Secondly, we have other sources of information today. It is more comfortable to go on the internet or read the newspaper because then you can choose which news you read and which you do not. On television the news programs are on once a day, on a certain time and when you miss it you can not watch it later. Therefore we have started using other sources of information, because reading online or reading in the newspaper you can choose the when, where and what on your own.
On the other hand, there are certain channels that are always broadcasting news. There are so many different channels on television that you can see the world news on at least one of them. Unfortunately if you want such a big variety of channels to choose from you have to order extra packages and also have to pay more money.
In conclusion, people do not watch the news on television any more. Mostly because we have the internet and newspapers, from them it is much more comfortable to get your daily news. Even though if you really want you can watch the news on television but most people prefer to get their information from other sources. Therefore television has become a way to relax after a long day and most people don't find news entertaining.
